Description
Anisotropic gold platelets (<220 nm across) with a polyethylene glycol (PEG) surface, dispersed in water. Its absorption band is the broadest in the range: in Grove's example spectrum, absorbance at 785 nm, the usual near-infrared Raman line, is ~80% of the peak value.
Choose it over Gold-PVP Blue when you need a PEG surface. PEG is widely used to reduce non-specific protein adsorption in biological media; how well it does so depends on how densely it covers the particles, so test it in your own medium. Grove lists plasmonic sensing, nanoparticle assembly and polymer-mediated interfaces as research uses.
Production: Grove colloids are made by physical deposition of metallic gold in the presence of the stabilising ligand, then dispersed in water. No gold salts, chemical reducing agents, CTAB or CTAC are used.
